Music: Metallica's Robert Trujillo Records Backup Vocals for the First Time

Metallica Bassist Robert Trujillo Recorded Backup Vocals on a Song for the First Time

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo recorded backup vocals for the first time ever.  It's for a song called "You Must Burn" off their upcoming album, "72 Seasons".

In an interview on their "So What!" blog, Robert said, quote, "When I joined Metallica [in 2003], I'd never sung in my whole life, so the fact that I can now support a backup vocal is pretty cool . . .

"I'm very proud of that.  So we're getting better.  We're learning and still growing in this band . . . The respect level is much higher."

Technically he DID record some backup vocals for "Hardwired... to Self-Destruct", but it didn't make the final cut.

"72 Seasons" comes out on April 14th. We have tickets for their listening party at 8:20 am today.

A Rock "Resurgence of Guitars" Is Going to Be Ushered in By . . . U2?

If you're at the gym working out . . . and you're craving real GUITAR . . . do you turn on "Beautiful Day" by U2 and CRANK IT UP?

The guitar isn't as prevalent in mainstream music as it used to be . . . but U2 guitarist The Edge says he wants to kick-start a "resurgence of guitars."

He tells "MOJO" magazine that he believes the "pendulum is going to start swinging in the other direction" . . . and that guitars will start becoming more popular than synths, samples, and computer-generated sounds.

He says there's been "a drift away from the instrument" in recent years, but that Fender is selling more guitars than ever before . . . and they're ready for it.

Bono recently said that the next U2 album will be a "noisy, uncompromising, unreasonable guitar album."  And The Edge adds . . . quote, "We are turning the amps on . . . the rock that we all grew up with as 16- and 17-year-olds . . . that kind of power is something we'd love to connect back into."
