Vinyl Outsold CDs for the First Time in 35 Years  

 

 

Do you still buy CDs?  Time may not be on your side.  In 2022, CDs were outsold by VINYL . . . and it's the first time that happened since 1987 . . . 35 years prior.

 

 

Music fans bought more than 41 million units of vinyl, compared to 33 million CDs.  Vinyl sales were up 3%, from 40 million units in 2021 . . . while CD sales were down 28%, from 47 million.

 

 

The biggest album on vinyl was "Midnights" by Taylor Swift, which moved 945,000 copies.  "Harry's House" by Harry Styles was second, with 480,000.

The White Stripes To Re-Release "Elephant"

Twenty years later, The White Stripes are honoring one of their classic albums with an expanded re-release. Jack White’s label Third Man Records will release “a deluxe reissue” of “Elephant” on March 31st.

The set is reported to include an HD remaster of the entire album and a live performance of one of their 27-song performances in support of “Elephant” in 2003. The White Stripes also plan to drop a double-vinyl set of the album on April 21st.

Godsmack May Not Tour Outside Of the US Again

Godsmack canceled their South American tour due to a lack of interest. Well, now drummer Shannon Larkin has revealed the band is considering not touring outside of the US in the future. “We're big in America. We're an American band,” admits Larkin. “And we didn't really have the success worldwide that we have here.”

The drummer went on to detail how large the band’s shows are when they produce them in the States versus how small they are when the band goes abroad. “And so sometimes it feels like they're not getting what we are because we can't afford to bring all that sh*t.”
