FOOD: Hidden Valley Ice Cream Is Here for National Ranch Day

Hidden Valley Ice Cream Is Here for National Ranch Day

It's National Ranch Dressing Day.  And Hidden Valley came into it with guns blazing:  They just announced a new ranch dressing ICE CREAM will be hitting Walmart stores later this month.

It's a limited-time thing, so you'll only have two months to try it.  They'll start selling it on March 20th, and it'll be around through the end of May.

They partnered with the ice cream brand Van Leeuwen, which makes lots of weird flavors.  They say it has, quote, "savory flavors of ranch, including buttermilk, flavorful herbs, and a touch of sweetness."

A few people have tried it, and it sounds like it could be a hit for TRUE ranch lovers.  If you just LIKE ranch, you might not enjoy it.

People.com says there's an oniony smell that's kind of "off-putting," but it tasted better than expected.

Writers at FoodAndWine.com also tried it.  One person said there's a major garlic powder taste.  But someone else said it's basically a sweeter version of ranch, and would go great with French fries.

35% of People Never Share Dishes at a Restaurant?

When you go to a restaurant, are you more interested in trying several different things... . or do you want your own meal, and for everyone else to keep their paws away from it?

In a new poll, 58% of people say they sometimes order different dishes than their friends or significant other so that they can share.  35% say they never do that.

When broken down into demographics, it sounds like it's something that's more popular among younger adults living on the coasts.  Boomers in the Midwest are the LEAST likely to share their food.

Of course, this isn't EVERY meal.  Some stuff, like pasta dishes, soups, and salads, are awkward to split.  It's easy to cut and divvy up a pizza, a sandwich, or a dessert.

The poll also asked if you ever order the SAME thing as a friend or partner . . . because you can't decide what you want.  40% say they have, and 52% have not.
