Game Of Thrones Prequel Series 'House Of The Dragon' Set For 2022

Maybe you didn't love how Game of Thrones ended, but we're probably all down for a show about the rise and fall of the Tagaryens in ancient Westeros, right? According to Deadline, HBO confirms that House of the Dragon is on the way.

The new series, set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will be based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. The Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire) companion novel takes readers through the creation of the Iron Throne and goes on to recount the tales of generations of Tagaryens who fought for it. The network is still working to cast lead characters Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. Naomi Watts was cast as the lead in a previous GOT prequel project that HBO scrapped last year after filming a pilot episode.

The new show should be dominating Sunday nights sometime in 2022.
